Wike carpets Ayu, over ‘costly’ slip at Kano rally

WHO BLINKS FIRST: Dr Iyorchia Ayu and Gov Nyesom Wike.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Friday reacted to the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu’s statement that the party has brought shame to Nigeria and should not be voted into power.

Ayu, while speaking at the party’s presidential rally in Kano on Thursday said “PDP has brought us shame, and we will not continue to retain them in power.”

Wike who played the recorded  speech to party faithful in Eleme, accused Ayu of playing the worst of anti-party politics speaking against the chances of the party at the polls.

He spoke at the campaign inauguration of the Rivers State PDP Campaign Council for Eleme Local Government Area held at the Community Secondary School Field, Alode Town, Eleme on Friday, Wike said Ayu’s statement was not a slip of the tongue but came from the abundance of what was deep down in his heart that the party has failed and should not be voted back to power.

According to him, “When you see undertakers you will know those who came to kill this party. But the party will not die, they will die first. I didn’t know they are wicked to this party, no wonder they left this party and joined ACN before.”

Wike stated that Ayu’s statement amounted to anti-party for saying that PDP should not be in power anymore.

“He (Ayu) said they will not allow PDP to be in power. Is that a good chairman? Is that not anti-party? Is the chairman not doing anti-party? Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

“For us in Rivers State, our own party is a good party. Our own is a party that has done Rivers State well,” he said.
