The Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge got a major endorsement yesterday as the Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka boarded the train at the station named after him at Abeokuta to Lagos.
Soyinka is a Nobel Laureate winner in Literature and a prominent literary writer from Africa.
Soyinka became the first global citizen to ride on the train, giving it the first major endorsement as a good means of transportation for the commuting masses.
During the journey other passengers swarmed round the Octogenarian essayist who recently released another book Chronicles of the Happiest People on Earth for photo opportunities while some demanded for autograph.
Soyinka had last year, in company with the former Governor of Ogun state Ibikunle Amosun, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Minister of Transportation Rtimi Amaechi and other eminent personalities welcomed the train to the Rockcity of Abeokuta
A young boy Toluwanimi Alli Balogun had walked up to Soyinka for an autograph which he gladly obliged.
The railway revolution is one of the much-touted achievements of the Muhammadu Buhari administration as the government battles to revive moribund infrastructure especially in the transport sector.
