Yobe commences distribution of palliatives to vulnerable residents

Yobe State Government has commenced distribution of foodstuffs to vulnerable persons in the state.

The government has targeted 5,750 persons across all the 17 local government areas of the state.

Items to be shared include bags of Rice, Beans, Maize Flour, Sachets of Tomato Paste, Sachets of Maggi seasoning, Vegetable oil and Spaghetti, among others.

In an opening remark on Wednesday in Gashua during the kick off of the distribution, the North East Development Commissioner (NEDC) Focal Person in Yobe State, Dr. Ali Ibrahim-Abbas said that “Governor Maimala Buni has his people very dear to his heart that is why he took this decision of assisting the vulnerable group comprising of the aged ones, blind, deaf, People Living With Disability among others”.

He explained that this gesture will go a long way in enabling the beneficiaries to successfully complete the fasting and celebrate sallah in happiness.

Member representing Bade East constituency at the Yobe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Maimota commended the state government for the intervention, noting that “this will cushion the sufferings of our people during the sallah celebration.”

In her vote of thanks, 112 year old Ya Zara Sulayman showered blessings on the Governor, she said: “May Allah bless our Governor Maimala Buni for his kind gesture and recognizing us, I’m very happy for the assistance”.
