Zulum appeals for special training for Borno youths

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has appealed for special training for Borno youths.

The State has been under the siege of Boko Haram for over 11 years, leaving many residents displaced and huge number of people especially youths with jobs.

In order to change the tide, Zulum was on Tuesday at Abuja corporate office of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to seek intervention.

The Governor who visited the ITF’s Model Skills Training Centre, expressed the state’s willingness to collaborate with the ITF on specialised training of youths for vocational skills for entrepreneurship.

He noted that the training will cover plumbing, mechatronics and electrical installations.

Zulum, according to a statement by his spokesman, Mallam Isa Gusau has always combined kinetic and non kinetic measures in his approach to addressing the Boko Haram crisis.

Gusau said the Governor had in the last two years built nine different vocational skills centres that train thousands of Borno youths to make them meaningful members of the society.

He disclosed that before the Governor went round to inspect different laboratories at the ITF Headquarters, also had a detailed meeting with the officials of the Industrial Training Fund.

He said the Governor was received and taken round on behalf of the Director General by the Director of Training and Vocational Studies, Mrs Lami Dakwav.

The governor was accompanied on the visit by the commissioner of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Babagana Malumbe, Special Adviser on Protocol, Ahmed Sanda and SSA on Liasson Services, Ali Abba Jato.
