Two men on Tuesday appeared in a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, for allegedly threatening to kill their neighbour.

The police charged John Thomas, 57, and Jonathan Madaki,39 with joint act, trespass, intentional insult, criminal intimidation and mischief.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Ade Adeyanju, told the court that on July 31, the defendants entered the complainant’s residence and started insulting her without any course.

He said that when the complainant, Rejoice Jonathan, challenged them, Madaki threatened to kill her and he began destroying her belongings.

Adeyanju said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79, 348, 155, 397 and 326 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Mr Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

Maiwada said one of the sureties must be a clergyman a district head who must provide an appointment letter and a valid Identification Card.

He ordered that the defendants must sign a bond of peace of N200,000 each or be remanded at Keffi Correctional Centre.

Maiwada adjourned the case until Oct. 5 for mention.
