Today, Sunday, 15 October, 2023, Hon. Adenaya Fatai, popularly known as Modawoni, who contested for the Ogun State House of Assembly representing the Ogun Water-Side Constituency under the banner of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) during the 2023 general election, has come forward with a bold accusation against the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
While being interviewed by our correspondent, Adenaya claimed that Governor Abiodun has failed to resolve the persistent power crisis in Water Side Local Government, which has persisted for seven long years.
Adenaya, who was known as a vocal contender during the recent election, has expressed deep concern over the prolonged absence of electricity in Water Side Local Government. He firmly believes that restoring reliable power to the region is pivotal to attracting both local and foreign investors.
He pointed out that the absence of electricity has deprived the residents of Water Side Local Government of what he refers to as the “major dividend of democracy,” which they rightfully deserve.
“The impact of this neglect on the livelihoods of the local residents has been substantial, making it challenging for them to access basic services and economic opportunities,” he said.
Adenaya made a heartfelt plea to the member of the State Assembly representing his constituency to bring the matter to the house during the plenary session. He highlighted that, as a major contender for the position of Ogun State House of Assembly representing the Ogun Water-Side Constituency in the recent general election, addressing the power supply issue is one of his top priorities.
He expressed a willingness to collaborate and provide ideas for resolving the electricity crisis, either within the State Assembly or at the state government level.
“I would not hesitate to render idea on how to realize power supply in my local government if I am invited by either House Assembly or by the state government,” he said.
The power crisis in Water Side Local Government remains a pressing concern, and Adenaya’s passionate appeal underscores the urgency of the situation. As the local community grapples with a prolonged lack of electricity, their hope now rests on the government’s commitment to finding a sustainable solution to this critical issue.
