Transsafe 360 Degree Global Initiative successfully held her 3rd annual general meeting and presented awards to those who have contributed immensely to transport safety and security of lives and properties in Nigeria.
Addressing members and intending members at the third annual general meeting/awards, a BoT member, Transsafe 360 Degree Forum, Dr. Charles Asenime, said the NGO registers members for free in order to encourage and accommodate all stakeholders interested in joining the forum.
The President, Transsafe 360 Degree Global Initiative, Alhaji Ganiyu Jimba in his welcome address said the forum was incorporated in 2017, as an NGO with Board of Trustees to champion the affairs of the Forum.
He said; “the forum has achieved a lot within a short period as we have done many public enlightenment, transport safety advocacy and have make so many suggestions to the Lagos State government, which today is of benefit to the general public and we will continue to do more in achieving a safer transport environment as we have also pledged to help secure lives, properties and transport safety in Nigeria.”
He said the reason behind the awards was that people have been effortlessly making sure that free flow of traffic and transport safety is assured in Lagos State.
He said that, finance at a point becomes our challenge by way of putting things together but we have to go all odds to making sure that this year’s annual general meeting becomes different from the previous ones we have had.
While launching the Forum’s Lapel, the Former Senator, Representing Mushin West, Senator Ganiyu Olarenwaju Solomon; said he will continue to support the Forum activities at all times.
The Dean, School of Transport, Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Samuel Odewunmi promised that within his power, he will make sure that every student of School of Transport (LASU), becomes a member of Transsafe 360 Degree Global Initiative and that the school has also promised to host the forum’s two subsequent meetings at any leisure time of Transsafe 360 Degree Global Initiative.
Mr. Rotimi Anifowose, who is also the Deputy Director, Special Duties, Nigeria Shippers Council; gave a lecture on the “Importance of NGOs Collaboration,” said government should stop seeing NGOs as a non-serious entity but should see us as partners in achieving a smart city.
Awards were given to transportation stakeholders in Lagos, who has contributed to transport safety & free traffic flow in Nigeria, especially Lagos State.
Those who received awards were: DCC Hyginus Omeje, Sector Commander FRSC Lagos (Award on Contributions to Road Safety in Lagos); The Dean, School of Transport, LASU, S. G Odewunmi (Recognition Award in Transport Development); Commissioner for Transport Lagos State, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde (Recognition Award in Transport Development); Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Lagos State, Mr. Musa Maroof ( Contribution Award to Lagos State Transport); Chairman Lagos State Taskforce, Olayinka Egbeyemi (Recognition Award on contribution to safe transport in Lagos).
Others were: General Manager, LACVIS, Mr Ogunaike (Award of Support to Transsafe 360 Degree); The CSP, State State Traffic Officer, Orioyomi Oluwasanmi, (Best Female Transport Officer in Nigeria); The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, Hon. Oluwatoyin Fayinka (Award of Honor); Lagos Traffic Radio (Best Traffic Radio); The Commander RRS, DCP, Olatunji Disu (Recognition award) and LASTMA.
