Apomuland erupted in excitement Wednesday, as the King, Oba Kayode Adenekan Afolabi, inaugurated the new Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Outpost Command in Apomu.
It was another federal government presence attracted to the ancient Yoruba town by the urbane monarch since his ascension to the throne of his forefathers recently.
The excited Oba, at the event which took place on Wednesday, said the community has felt the presence of the lead road safety agency more in the last few weeks, since their outpost was sited in Apomuland.
He said the Corps impact is more felt at the ever busy Apomu market which they helped decongested by discouraging traders from displaying their wares on the roadside thereby causing gridlock.
In his speech the Osun State Sector Commander P.J. Okpe appreciated the Corps Marshal for his approval to create the Outpost Command.
He also thanked Alapomu for his esteemed relentless support, ensuring fruition of the command, adding that he has taken the safety campaign to the monarchs in the different towns within Osun State and Apomu is one of the chosen ones to have an outpost approved.
The Sector Commander promised that intensive and aggressive Public Enlightenment activities would be embarked upon by the Corps to be disseminated in local languages, to enable the community understand why they must play their part in making the roads safer for all users.
He urged officers and men posted to the Outpost Command, to work closely with other Security Agencies and the citizens and shun bribery and corruption.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life. They include Majority Leader Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Moroof Olanrewaju, Commissioner for Youth and Sport Osun State, Hon, Yemi Lawal, Chairman Isokan Local Government area, Hon Akinremi Moroof, among others.
