Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that his trial was deliberately fixed for the same day as a planned protest in Aba in order to prevent him from attending the rally.

Sowore made the claim in a post shared on his verified X handle on Friday, where he explained the circumstances surrounding his absence from the court hearing involving the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to him, when he and his legal team arrived at the Federal High Court on March 5, 2026, the judge handling the case was not present.

“When we arrived at the Federal High Court on March 5, 2026, the judge was absent and his registrar fixed March 24 as the next date,” he wrote.

He added that disagreements later arose among the parties involved in the case, which led his lawyers to formally request another hearing date.

“Because parties couldn’t agree, our lawyers wrote requesting a new date,” Sowore stated.

However, the activist claimed that the situation changed after the DSS allegedly learned that he planned to travel to Aba for the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest.

“The moment the DSS heard we were heading to Aba for the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest, the hearing was suddenly fixed for the same day in order to frustrate me from attending the historic rally,” he said.

Sowore described the development as deliberate, saying the intention behind the new hearing date was clear.

“The games are obvious,” he wrote.

Despite the situation, the activist insisted that the struggle would continue.

“Nothing can defeat an idea whose time has come,” he added.
