In a powerful show of unity, energy, and political will, the youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government organized a massive solidarity walk to drum up support for the re-election bid of the Executive Chairman, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), his Vice Chairman, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, and all APC councillorship candidates in the forthcoming July 12, 2025, local government elections.
Themed “Re-elect Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH) for Sustainable Governance and Progressive Consolidation,” the event underscored the widespread grassroots support for the APC leadership and its vision of continued development and inclusive governance.
The walk, which commenced at the iconic Iju-Ishaga Roundabout, saw a massive turnout of enthusiastic youths and residents who moved through key areas including Iju Road, College Road, and finally terminated at Ogba, Ifako-Ijaiye. Chants of solidarity, branded campaign gear, and rhythmic drumming filled the air, creating a festive and politically charged atmosphere across the streets.
Comrade Olamibo Ikuomola, the APC Youth Leader in Ifako-Ijaiye, praised the remarkable achievements recorded under Prince Hamzat’s administration. He highlighted various strides in infrastructure development, socioeconomic empowerment, and youth-focused initiatives as strong reasons why the youths are fully backing the Chairman’s re-election.
“We are not just walking today—we are making a statement,” said Comrade Ikuomola. “Prince Hamzat has demonstrated purposeful leadership. His developmental projects and inclusive governance approach have positively impacted the lives of young people across the local government.”
The solidarity walk also featured prominent members of the APC Local Organizing Committee (LOC), leaders and members of the UAH-OAA Independent Campaign Group (ICG), party stalwarts, and residents who pledged their unwavering support to the APC candidates.
In his address, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat expressed heartfelt appreciation to the youths and the entire Ifako-Ijaiye community for their overwhelming support and trust in his leadership.
“We are humbled by your show of love,” Hamzat said. “This endorsement energizes us to do more. With your continued support, we will consolidate on our achievements and bring even greater dividends of democracy to every ward.”
Vice Chairman Mrs. Awoniyi-Akerele also lauded the youths for standing firmly behind the party, assuring them that the next administration will prioritize even more youth empowerment and developmental programmes.
The walk marks a major milestone in the APC’s campaign activities, with political analysts and community observers calling it a “youthquake” that signals strong grassroots momentum for the ruling party ahead of the July 12 poll.
