SUNRISE NEWS, Lagos, Aug 22, 2020 In line with the on-going reconstruction works on Ketu – Mile 12 Section of Lagos/Ikorodu road, Lagos State Government will be diverting traffic on the corridor from Friday, 21st August, to Wednesday 21st October, 2020.

According to a Statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the diversion became necessary to allow the contractor handling the project commence the second segment of the reconstruction works along Mile-12 to Ketu, having completed the first segment of the project, Ketu- Mile 12 corridor.

The statement hinted that different alternative routes have been provided for road users to utilize during the construction period, while LASTMA and other Traffic Management Agencies will be on ground to direct traffic for free vehicular movement.

According to the statement, between 4am and 2pm each day, Motorists coming from Ikorodu inward Ketu/Lagos Island will be diverted from Mile 12 Bridge to join the carriage way and realign normal flow at Ketu, while adding that Mile 12 Service lane will be opened to movements inward Ketu. Also, motorists can use Mile 12 under Bridge to link Ajelogo through Alapere, while motorists inbound Ikorodu will continue movement on the service and BRT lanes.

Those coming from Third Mainland Bridge inbound Ikorodu can connect Mile 12 through Alapere to Ajelogo.

In the like manner, between 2pm and 4am, Motorists from Ikorodu inward Ketu are to use service lane alongside BRT lane, from Kosofe to link Ketu and realign normal flow at Ketu or use Mile 12 under Bridge to link Ajelogo through Alapere and connect their destinations.

It added that Motorists inbound Ikorodu from Ketu will be allowed to use both the Service lane and main carriage way to link Mile 12

The statement however strongly advised articulated vehicles approaching Mile 12 Market to use Oremerin and Ibukun Streets only to navigate their journeys.

While seeking the cooperation of all road users, the statement further stated that any inconvenience caused by the diversion is regrettable. The closure has been slated at this time, to ensure there is smooth and uninterrupted flow of the construction works.

The Lagos State Government through the statement appealed to residents of the State, especially motorists that ply these corridors to support the project, which is aimed at finding a lasting solution to the ever busy road in line with efficient traffic management and transportation policy of the State Government.
