Mrs Cecilia Bolaji Dada, Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), has urged women at the grassroots to be self-reliant and imbibe the attitude of saving for future purposes.
Dada gave the advice at Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Wednesday, during the maiden Women Forum organised for women at the grassroots.
“There is need for women to be self-reliant and save for the rainy day.
“We, therefore, enjoin you to beef-up your games in ensuring that your marriage is preserved as well as not neglecting your wellbeing and needs.
“We design this assemblage of women at the grassroots and from other walks of life to get them closer and become better in daily relationship with their families, other women and the world at large.
“This forum will saddle them with the responsibility of empowerment and supporting women economically, socially, physically and emotionally,” she said.
Mr Johnson Babatunde, the Chairman, Orile Agege LCDA, commended the state government and the Ministry of Women Affairs for the laudable programme.
According to Babatunde, the programme addressed major issues like health, marital, personal hygiene and other developmental issue concerning women in the society.
He, however, enjoined all participants to make use of the opportunity and move closer to relevant authorities that could help in tackling pending issues of rape, unemployment, domestic violence and the likes in the society.
