The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Sylvester Abiodun Alabi today paid first official working visit to the men and officers in the Area G and Area H command headquarters, in Ogba and Kosofe respectively.

Full of praises for the gallantry displayed by the officers which has kept criminality at low level in the state, the CP also charged them to keep away from sharp practices which are eroding public trust in the Police.

He further used the opportunity to intimate them about the activities of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba aimed at enhancing operational capacity and working conditions.

Desiring that the officers will raise the bar of excellence, the new helmsman in Lagos police said: ‘Discipline is the bedrock of the Force. Any act of indiscipline would not be tolerated from anyone of us. Your conduct must be in conformity with Police rules and regulations and other administrative instructions. Ensure that everything you do is within the purview of the law and be able to defend your actions.’

His warnings, ‘it is not your duty to start asking for custom papers or permit, leave Customs officers to do their job, while you do yours. You are all aware that permit for tinted glass has been suspended for now, so stop asking for the permit for now. We have had complaints that some of you are doing this in order to attract pecuniary benefits, please stop it. It is unprofessional and serious misconduct’.

Telling them about his desire for open communication under his administration, CP Alabi continued: ‘I am not here to waste your time, I am here to interact with you, to hear from you, and if you have any complaints or anything you want us to address so that we can address it.’

“I want to let you know that our IGP is working assiduously to enhance our capacity and to ensure that our working conditions are improved upon. A lot of equipment has been bought, of course, you can attest to the fact that some of them are being distributed. We just received about 5 gun trucks to enhance our patrol and operational efficiency. We still have a lot to be distributed to state commands which will cascade down to area commands and divisions’, he disclosed.
