The Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr. Olanrewaju Ishola has counselled the Arewa community on the importance of synergy with the law enforcement agency, in ensuring a peaceful environment.
Speaking during his courtesy call on the newly inaugurated Chairman of Arewa Community Engineer Sa’adu Gulma in Lagos on Tuesday, the CP said that the cultural headships within Lagos are highly reckoned by him, in his attempt to foster a more secured state.
According to the Lagos CP the Inspector-General of Police Dr. Kayode Egbetokun had instructed that all of them go round their place of assignment to familiarise with the people to ensure peace.
He tasked the Arewa community leader to collaborate with him to bolster security, while counselling the people to discountenance fake news allegedly peddled around on the social media like incessant kidnapping and the likes.
“Cooperate with the police, let’s ensure peaceful environment. People that don’t want peace should not be allowed to determine how our lives should be.
“This is the same Nigeria that they say is not good but host Chinese for six months and they turned big men. Let’s not take to fake news on the social media about incessant kidnapping, let’s follow good news source like the newspapers and television.
Please talk to this bowler boys, I have reports that they go to people doing house foundation and break some of it to take the rods there and sell, please join hands to expose the miscreants doing this.
“Our cooperation is important. We are here to tell the leaders that we are ready to cooperate with them.” CP Ishola said.
Elated over the visit Engineer Sa’adu Gulma cited the poise of Arewa community to ensure that the required synergy is afforded.
He hinted that soon there will be a town hall meeting with security leaders and even the governor of the state to evolve a secured state.
“I am very happy that the CP visit happened during my time. We are going to convene a town hall meeting soon with leaders of security agencies and even our governor, where we will have a template for a safer Lagos.
He however, charged members of the Arewa community to be law abiding and to eschew drug abuse, stealing and other social vices as the year runs to an end.
