The Lagos State Government has made registration on the state’s resident registration platform a requirement for residents seeking admission for their children into public schools.

The state government said the policy was introduced to improve planning, documentation and access to public services across Lagos.

Under the new arrangement, parents and guardians seeking admission for their children are expected to provide proof of resident registration as part of the admission process.

The government said the requirement would help it obtain accurate data on residents and improve the planning and delivery of education and other essential services.

It explained that resident registration would also support better coordination of government programmes and enable the state to determine the population and needs of different communities.

The policy applies to residents seeking admission into public primary and secondary schools across the state.

Parents and guardians have therefore been advised to complete the registration process before commencing school admission procedures.

The state government said the initiative was part of its broader effort to strengthen its database and improve service delivery to residents.
