Man in court for allegedly stealing grinding machine

A 38-year-old man, Patrick Sunday was on Thursday arraigned in a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court for stealing a petrol grinding machine worth N152,000.

The defendant, a resident of Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna is standing trial for conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Chidi Leo, said that the defendant along with others at large committed the offence on May 22.

Leo said the defendant and his accomplice stole the machine from the house of one Christian Timothy in Jos Road on Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna.

He stated that they conspired and trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole the grinding machine where it was kept when he travelled with his family for a burial.

The prosecutor added that the offences contravened sections 287 and 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety in like sum.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until June 27 for hearing.(NAN)
