The Cowry Card, the single and convenient payment on all modes of public transportation operational in Lagos State is now operational on the Waterways, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has disclosed.
Making this known in a statement on Wednesday, the LASWA General Manager Mr Damilola Emmanuel said with the integration, payment on the Omibus vessels is now seamless.
According to him, the integration affords commuters seamless travel options, fostering interconnected transport network within the state.
He said: “We are committed to prioritizing the safety and peace of mind of our commuters. To this end, the OmiBus Ferry fleet is insured by LASACO Assurance, providing robust coverage and reinforcing our pledge to deliver secure and reliable services on our inland waterways.”
Other safety features onboard the OmiBus ferries Mr Emmanuel said include; standard life jackets, life buoys, fire extinguishers, and pyrotechnics. It also has a non-slip deck mat and a public address system.
Furthermore, the OMI-BUS has a stereo system, LED lighting, and USB charging points to guarantee charging option for travellers hand held devices thereby ensuring comfortable sailing experience.
With fewer CO2 emissions that are eco friendly, these locally made OmiBus have received international recognition for its safety standards from Interferry, a global ferry association.
The general public is thereby invited to take advantage of the ferry alternative for a faster and reliable journey, the LASWA Chief stated.
