Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said President Bola Tinubu did not interfere in the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party lost the Osun State governorship election.

Sanwo-Olu said Tinubu accepted the outcome of the election without becoming angry or attempting to influence the process after the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, was defeated by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The Lagos governor made the remarks while speaking about the President’s reaction to the election and his approach to political challenges.

He said Tinubu did not withdraw from political engagements or take steps to undermine those responsible for the election outcome.

Sanwo-Olu described the President’s response as an indication of his commitment to democratic processes and respect for electoral outcomes.

Adeleke defeated Oyebamiji in the August 2026 governorship election, securing another term as governor of the state.

The APC had mounted a strong challenge in the election but was unable to dislodge Adeleke, who won across several local government areas.

Sanwo-Olu maintained that Tinubu remained focused on governance and national issues despite the setback suffered by his party in the state.
