The Lagos State Government has commended the compliance level to COVID-19 protocols on the first day of resumption of schools in the state.
According to the Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, the compliance level is impressive and satisfactory, noting that more could be done to curb the spread of the virus in schools.
Adefisayo made this known on Monday when she led a team to monitor the adherence of school administrators, teachers, and students to the COVID-19 guidelines across the state.
The commissioner noted that the safety of students and their teachers is very important to the state government, adding that the decision to reopen schools is difficult amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
She maintained that adherence to COVID-19 protocols has become expedient to reduce the risk of infection in Lagos schools.
Adefisayo said any student without a face mask should not be allowed into schools, adding that the usual morning assembly and sporting activities have been suspended till further notice.
She stressed that the Office of Education Quality assurance would always visit schools to ensure full adherence to the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.
