Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has commended the people of the state for
voting massively for President Muhammadu Buhari in Saturday’s election.
The governor also urged them to extend the same gesture, which saw them
electing all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for National
Assembly including himself, for the candidate of the party for next week’s
governorship and State Assembly.
The governor, in a statement by his spokesman, Isa Gusau said the people have
gladden his heart by voting for all APC candidates at last Saturday’s election.
A situation which saw President scoring over 90 percent votes, three senators
elected and all the ten candidates of the party for House of Representatives
voted.
The Governor, who congratulated APC members for the victory, reminded them of
what he called a bigger task ahead in relation to the Governorship and state
Assembly elections scheduled for 9th of March, 2019.
He said “even though the APC has in
Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, a popular choice across party lines, there is
need to approach the next election with every seriousness. He said the party
will work hard to deliver higher votes for Professor Zulum and the 28 state
Assembly candidates of the APC. He called on Borno people to safeguard
their permanent voters cards ahead of the governorship and state Assembly
elections.”
