Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has urged goalkeeper Andre Onana to “step up” after his shaky start with the Premier League club.
Ten Hag brought in Onana this summer to replace David de Gea as United’s no.1 after the Spaniard’s contract expired. The Cameroon international joined in a £47.2million deal from Inter.
But despite receiving praise for his distribution, Onana has come under fire after mistakes against Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and Brentford.
And Ten Hag is adamant that Onana will start to show more consistency.
“‘For Andre, it is good to know, from that little bit of history, but also we live now and we live in the future. He has to make his future by making better performances.
“I’m sure he will do that and he has already shown that so many times in big clubs like Barcelona, when he was young. At Ajax, he was in the semi-final of the Champions League. He was in the final of the Champions League [last season with Inter],” Ten Hag said.
