SUBEB chief praises Rotary for renovating classrooms in Ogun

The Executive Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Olatunji Okewole, has commended the timely intervention of dilapidated classrooms in Gbagura Community by the Rotary Club of Oke-Ona Egba, District 9110 of Lagos and Ogun State.

Speaking during the commissioning of a block of two classrooms renovated by the club and the distribution of 50 pieces unit of uniforms to the pupils of Holy Trinity School 1 Gbagura in Abeokuta the state capital.

Okewole who was represented by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics Mr. Emi Omoboye said the gesture has been able to address the critical area of the school need , adding that it will also go long way at giving young minds in the community and its environs the opportunity to learn in a conducive environment which was in line with the vision of the present administration led by Senator, Ibikunle Amosun.

Speaking, the District 9110 Governor of Lagos and Ogun State, Rotarian Kola Sodipo said that Rotary club has always made an impact at the Federal, Sates and Local Government level, adding that the club saw the need to renovate the dilapidated classrooms following the bad conditions at which the students are learning.

While calling on the alma mater of the school and well meaning members of the society to extend such gesture to the school, Rotarian Sodipo said the gesture was not political but was born out of what rotary really stand for and the conditions the students was, with some without uniforms and on beer footed.

He promise to relate with his successor to consider channelling some other projects to the school, saying that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of providing facilities that would improved the living standard of leaders of tomorrow.

Also speaking the President of Rotary Club, Oke-Ona Egba District 9110, Rotarian Onilogbo Yetunde said the school was considered for renovation as a result of combination of three classes in one classroom, adding that other structures in the school are not conducive for learning.

She said there aim was to impact in the lives of  community members, the less privileged in terms of education and where government impact has not been really felt, saying that the provision of uniforms to the students came as a result of some students during school hours was withouts uniforms.

While appreciating the gesture of the Club, the head Teacher, Mr. Adesina Olugbenga, said the renovated classrooms was coming at the right time when the students needed it most, adding that they would continue to ask for more as oliver twists as many structures in the school needs urgent attention.
