President Bola Tinubu has extended his working vacation in Europe by a few days and is expected to return to Nigeria this weekend.
Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for London to begin his annual leave before travelling to Paris, France.
The Presidency said on Monday that the President had remained in contact with officials in Nigeria and continued to direct the affairs of the country while away.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu has issued directives on some national issues during his absence, including ordering an independent investigation into the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in Niger State.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has represented Tinubu at some official engagements during the President’s absence.
Shettima left Abuja on Sunday for New York to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where he is expected to represent Nigeria.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, is also expected to continue representing the President at official events.
The Presidency said Tinubu would return to Nigeria at the weekend following the extension of his working vacation by a few days.
