The 70th birthday anniversary of Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), on November 11, 2024, will be celebrated with a week of memorable activities beginning on Sunday, November 10.

Pastor Tunde Bakare, fondly called PTB, has been one of the nation’s most highly influential and respected spiritual leaders, a fiery and passionate preacher of righteousness, and a courageous advocate for justice. This leader, whose powerful messages and life of service have inspired millions globally, has not only impacted his immediate constituency, the church but has also made significant socio-political contributions by speaking truth to power.

His interventions on the state of the nation have earned him respect and recognition.

In addition to his prophetic role, he was the running mate of former President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election in Nigeria with an unwavering commitment to national leadership, and he remains deeply interested in serving his country toward a brighter future. His teachings emphasize moral integrity, justice, and the need for spiritual renewal in society.

The one-week celebration of his 70th birthday will feature the following events:

Schedule of Activities

Sunday, November 10: Appreciation Sunday by Affinity Groups in CGCC

Members of Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), his church and affiliated communities will come together to express their heartfelt gratitude for his unwavering guidance and leadership over the years.

Monday, November 11: Birthday Thanksgiving Service & Book Presentation

A special thanksgiving service will be held in honour of his life and ministry. The celebrant will also unveil his latest book, THE LAST, BUT DEFINITELY NOT THE LEAST—THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF PASTOR TUNDE BAKARE, which offers insights into his experiences, spiritual journey, socio-political interventions, and vision for the nation and the world.

Tuesday, November 12: Law Endowment Fund & Solar Project Commissioning in UNILAG – ‘Let There Be Light’

The celebrant’s alma mater, the University of Lagos (UNILAG), will witness the launch of a Law Endowment Fund and the commissioning of a solar system for the Law Department to promote legal education and empower future leaders in the field of justice and governance. The event is tagged ‘Let There Be Light.’

Wednesday, November 13: Wellness and Health Talk: A formula for a sickness free life by Dr Susana Adams.

A session aimed at promoting wellness and healthy living, featuring Dr Susana Adams, the Managing Director of Dr PhysiQ Global Health and Wellness Limited,Abuja, a leading medical practitioner, will be organised to highlight the importance of physical and mental health, a cause close to PTB’s heart.

Friday, November 15: Inaugural Lecture by The Citadel Centre for Development (TCCD)

An inaugural lecture organized by the legal department of Citadel Global Community Church under the auspices of The Citadel Centre for Development (TCCD) will x-ray the recent Supreme Court decision on Local Government Autonomy. It is titled Democratic System of Local Government as Third Tier of Government in Nigeria: Matters Arising. Prof. Taiwo Osipitan (SAN) will be the Guest lecturer, and Chief Wole Olanipekun, CFR(SAN), will be the chairman of the occasion. Dr. Reuben Abati will moderate the panel session.

Sunday, November 17: Thanksgiving Service @ CGCC

The week-long celebration will culminate in a final thanksgiving service, offering gratitude for 70 years of impactful leadership and prophetic-apostolic ministry.

This week of activities reflects the broad spectrum of PTB’s influence, spanning spiritual leadership and national advocacy. It provides an opportunity for all to join in celebrating the life of a true servant-leader who has dedicated his life to the pursuit of righteousness and justice.

About PTB
Pastor ‘Tunde Bakare is a highly respected nation-builder and preacher known for his unflinching stand for righteousness and justice. He was former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 presidential election on the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). In 2022, he announced his intention to run for President after Buhari’s second term in office. He was one of the aspirants at the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential primaries in 2023, which produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s flag bearer. He had been harassed and arrested for his messages, which were critical of repressive and oppressive Governments in the past, but PTB remains committed to the socio-political transformation of his country. His leadership continues to inspire and challenge both the church and the nation to higher ideals of truth and integrity. Husband of one wife, MrsLayide Bakare (fondly called ’The Authentic Mrs B) and father of five children and many grandchildren, he was the Convener of Save Nigeria Group (SNG).
