In a surprising turn of events, Comrade Adenaya Fatai, also known as Modawoni, who vied for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly under the NNPP banner during the recent general elections, has raised serious allegations against the APC-led federal government.

He claims that there is a concerted effort to weaken the political influence of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) in preparation for the 2027 elections.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, November 23, 2023, Adenaya accused Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), of utilizing the judiciary to reclaim Kano as his political stronghold, specifically targeting the upcoming 2027 general election.

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a prominent Nigerian politician, served as the governor of Kano State until 2023 and is currently the national chairman of the APC.

Adenaya, recognized for his vocal presence during the recent election, expressed deep concern regarding a purported inconsistency between the Court of Appeal’s decision and the publicly announced results.

The discrepancy came to light as residents took to the streets on Wednesday, November 22, in solidarity with Governor Abba Yusuf after discovering that the written verdict contradicted the initial outcome in favor of the APC candidate.

Adenaya highlighted the disparity between the Court of Appeal’s judgment and the written verdict by Justice Moor Aseimo Abraham Adumein. The written verdict suggested a resolution in favor of the appellant, Governor Abba Yusuf, contradicting the initially announced decision favoring the APC candidate.

“It is a sad development in the Nigerian Judiciary as the Court of Appeal stated yesterday that the discrepancy between its judgment and the written verdict was due to clerical error,” Adenaya remarked.

With political tensions escalating in Kano, Adenaya’s unwavering support for Governor Abba Yusuf and the NNPP’s confidence in the judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court, sets the stage for a protracted legal battle. Concerns linger over the democratic process and the rule of law in the state, as the political landscape remains fraught with challenges and uncertainties.

“I wish Governor Abba Yusuf a successful outcome in the Supreme Court,” Adenaya added, emphasizing the pivotal role the judiciary will play in determining the fate of Kano’s political landscape.
