From Ademola Orubon, Abeokuta

Ogun State Government in its resolve to provide massive, decent and affordable housing for the people, has said it would soon deliver another set of 150 housing units of the second phase, Prince Dapo Abiodun Residential Area (Prince Court Estate), at Kemta, Abeokuta.

The Acting General Manager, Ogun State Housing Corporation, ESV. Wale Ojo made this known in a chat with newsmen in his office at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, saying the Corporation had been mandated to ensure easy access to developable land to reduce housing deficit in the State.

“If you are current with the policy of this present administration, you will know that housing is one of its key mandates. Government is addressing the issue of land acquisition, affordable home ownership, housing development and easy access to residential mortgages”, he said.

Wale Ojo added that the State Government was making necessary arrangements to ensure workers have access to housing fund at an interest rate of six percent, saying, “National Housing Fund (NHF) is the policy of the Federal Government to provide residential mortgage to people at interest rate of 6 percent’’.

He noted that individuals cannot approach Federal Mortgage Bank to access the fund, revealing that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration has mandated Gateway Mortgage Bank to facilitate this fund for the State’s workforce.

The Acting GM urged the people to take adequate advantage of the housing schemes in the State to ensure ‘’they have roofs over their head’’. It would be recalled that 130 housing units, out of the 450 units proposed for the project had been completed.
