Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, inaugurated a grassroots movement that will be propagating the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to residents of Lagos State across all communities.

Sanwo-Olu appointed 20 coordinators for Renewed Hope Ambassadors to drive the grassroots project aimed towards promoting the programmes of the Tinubu administration in communities.

The Governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, will lead the activities of the coordinators, each of whom had been assigned to activate the project in their respective Local Government Areas.

The initiative is a grassroots mobilisation effort aimed at enlightening, communicating and spreading the successes of the Renewed Hope agenda of the Tinubu administration.

The project operates under a national framework led by its Director-General and chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, with structures extending from the national level to local communities.

The ceremony, held at 10 Degrees Event Centre, Oregun in Ikeja, was attended a broad spectrum of All Progressives Congress (APC) members, including Governance Advisory Council (GAC) leaders, party executive committee, Sanwo-Olu cabinet members, Lagos House of Assembly members, traditional rulers, traders’ unions and youth groups.

Sanwo-Olu said the need to efficiently communicate the successes recorded by the Tinubu administration to all citizens at the grassroots brought about the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative.

He said: “This project is an activation of our resolution and commitment to the belief we hold dear. It is an activation of like minds who believe in the message of Renewed Hope of our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Today,

We appoint Local Government coordinators for Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos; they have been chosen to populate the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

“The aim of this project is not to kick off any campaign, but to create awareness about the successes we have seen in the last three years.

These ambassadors will go from neighbourhood to neighbourhood to let people be aware of the commitments given by the President and what has been delivered so far. The aim is to ensure the messages are communicated to all citizens in their languages.”

Sanwo-Olu said Tinubu’s leadership had turned around the country, noting that the President’s reforms had yielded positive results across sectors.

The nation, the Governor said, had now regained its leadership in the global economic environment, making international investors regain confidence in the country’s markets.

He said: “The financial reengineering and reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration have helped to bring down the debt burden on our country significantly, while also stabilising the Forex market. Workers are now earning new minimum wage with improved welfare benefits, just as food prices are crashing.

“The President has embarked on infrastructure drives, building projects from the Southwest to the Southeast, North Central to the Northeast, from the Northwest to the South-South. President Tinubu is building bridges and connecting faraway communities on seamless transportation.

“He told us he would construct the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Today, the project gone beyond 400km and is moving fast to completion. The President promised he would do Sokoto-Badagry Highway; the project is ongoing at the moment.”

Tinubu’s reform, Sanwo-Olu said, had consistently brought down inflation, just as the prices of fuel had been stabilised. These, the Governor said, testified to the President’s “tireless efforts”, which, he said, had been yielding positive results.

Ayinde noted that the grassroots project was not a campaign group but a movement for deep engagement, public sensitisation and responsibility to project the activities and programmes of President Tinubu, while

ensuring active participation of the people in electoral process.

He told the ambassadors to facilitate seamless engagement in their respective neighbourhoods and work in unity.

He urged the coordinators to serve as a link between government policies and citizens, noting that they were expected to disseminate information on national achievements to markets, campuses and communities.

Sanwo-Olu handed over 20 new buses to the coordinators to facilitate effective coordination of their activities.
