A 32-year-old man, Ibrahim Umar, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Upper Area Court, Gwagwalada Abuja, for allegedly stealing six revolving chairs valued N300,000.
The police charged Umar, who lives in Gwako Village, Gwagwalada, Abuja, with theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant of No. 37 Panama Street, Maitama, Abuja, reported the matter at the police station on July 12.
Tanko alleged that the defendant criminally trespassed into the complainant’s company located at Gwako Village, Gwagwalada, Abuja and stole six revolving chairs.
He said that during police investigation, one of the chairs was allegedly recovered in the defendant’s possession.
He said that the offence contravened the Provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Sani Umar, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400,000 with one surety in like sum.
Umar said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Umar said that the address of the surety must be verified by the court staff and must provide two of his recent passport photograph.
He said that the surety must also provide photocopy of valid means of identification and if the defendant failed to meet the bail conditions he should be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Suleja. He adjourned the case until Aug. 3 for hearing. (NAN)
